I don’t know what I want to do next; I just know this isn’t it.
I’ve been pigeon-holed and need to change that.
I have a feeling my role will be down-sized (outsourced, eliminated, etc.) and I want to be prepared.
I’m burned-out and need a change.
I have an idea but I’m not sure if I should pursue it.

We all get to “that point” when we’re ready to re-take the reins and lead the direction of our careers. This looks—and feels—different for everybody.

  • Sometimes, it’s triggered by a company change that’s causing the need to take action.
  • Sometimes, it’s an industry-wide trend or disruption that’s pushing you to take control.
  • Sometimes, it’s your personal evolution that’s stoking the fire in your belly.

No matter what that inflection point looks like, you will be best served by taking a well-reasoned and deliberate next step.

Here at Second Breaks, we take a consultative approach to help you analyze, plan, and prepare for your career pivot.

We work with you one-on-one and together, we’ll develop your career pivot strategy and an action plan so you can get started as soon as possible and on your way to the career you want.

Save Time

Figuring out your next steps by gathering information through Google search, reading book after book, or seeking advice from friends takes so much time.
We’ve done the research for you and developed a step-by-step process to help you make career choices that feel good so you can proceed with confidence about your decisions.

Changing career direction can feel like managing a full-on house remodeling project, with all the headaches and frustration that come with it.
Using a structured framework eliminates the confusion and helps you connect the dots. You’ll see clearly how your career pivot strategy aligns with your Big Picture, and how your plan fits with your life.

Reduce Risk and Anxiety

Making any kind of change can be nerve-wracking. A career pivot or a career change can induce self-doubt and worries about your ability to carry it through.
We work with you to create a pivot strategy and a plan of action that considers your constraints, aligns with your priorities, and leverages your strengths.

“What Do I Do? How Do I Do It?”

Helping you answer those questions is our ultimate job.

We use our career pivot framework—Second Breaks Blueprint™—to help you analyze, consider your options, and get to the answers that are right for you.

“Can I really make this happen?”

We take the view that your career pivot is a project, much like if you were remodeling your home or installing a new system at work. Our focus is to prevent analysis paralysis, spur action, and get your career pivot project off the ground so you can get to where you want to be as soon as possible.

The Second Breaks Blueprint™ is the framework that guides our work together.

We begin with an information gathering process that gets us on the same page. From there, we will proceed to your Big Picture map, which serves as the foundation for the rest of our work. Our work together will be a combination of live sessions and offline work (completion of worksheets, analysis, and research).

Long story short, we work alongside you during this engagement. We’ll roll up our sleeves just as you will!

Frequently Asked Questions

We will cover the details during our initial call, but here are few answers to common questions.

What happens after I click the Schedule button?

You will be taken to a scheduling calendar where you get to pick the date and time that works best for you. You’ll then receive a short questionnaire that we’d like you to complete prior to the call. During the call, we’ll go through specifics so that you can get comfortable with the best path for you. Most importantly, we get to see if we have a fit. This is very important. It never works well when there’s no fit!

Is the initial call free?

Yes. And in case you’re wondering, there is no obligation to proceed with anything after the call.

Is this Coaching?

While there will be some coaching and facilitation that’s going to happen, this is not a coaching arrangement. It is a flat-fee based project, which means it’s not based on the number of calls or sessions. We have a job to do for you and we will deliver this irrespective of the number of calls or emails it takes.

How is this different from Coaching?

We can dive into the finer points of difference between coaching and a consulting project during our call. But one big difference is that coaching is primarily about transformation. It can be a life-changing experience and we are a fan of coaching for sure. Our work together will be focused on developing and producing your pivot strategy and plans. You can call it Done-With-You. We roll up our sleeves during the engagement and at the conclusion, you will walk away with tangible deliverables.

How will we work together?

We will have one-on-one consultation sessions with exercises, over three to five weeks, depending on which path you select and how quickly you can get through the workbook information-gathering exercises.

What do I get when the project is completed?

The Full Program deliverables include: Your Big Picture Vision Map; Career Pivot Strategy Guide; Short-Term Action Plan (annual and quarterly); Strengths and Gap Analysis Report.

A pivot is one of the most significant actions you will ever do in your career. You don't have to go it alone.
